Sakhawat arrived in the United Kingdom in September 2023. He was studying for a master’s degree. His program was Energy and Sustainability: Energy, Resources and Climate Change. He studied at the University of Southampton.

Despite his pain, his posts showed strong determination. “It’s tough, but I’m staying steady,” he wrote. He focused on getting through each day. He acknowledged losing weight and having pain. But he said he was still fighting.
