Chennai, January 8, 2026: Fans of Thalapathy Vijay were left disappointed as the makers of Jana Nayagan announced a last-minute delay. The film, originally set to release on January 9, 2026, has now been postponed. Advance bookings for the film had already started, increasing the anticipation among audiences.
Reason Behind the Postponement
KVN Productions, the film’s production house, confirmed that the delay is due to pending approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In an official statement shared on social media, the makers said:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control. We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement, and emotions surrounding this film. The new release date will be announced at the earliest.”
This marks the second delay for the film. It was first expected to hit theatres during Diwali 2025 before being moved to the Pongal 2026 release window.
