A six-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The horrific incident occurred on the night of January 2.
Police said the accused, identified as Raju and Veeru Kashyap, trie d to hide their crime. They allegedly threw the girl from a rooftop after the assault.
The police first received information about a minor girl found in a critical condition. She was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Sikandrabad. Doctors there declared her dead.
The girl’s father filed a formal complaint. In it, he stated that Raju and Veeru Kashyap lived as tenants in the same building. His daughter had been playing on the rooftop. She was later found lying in a field behind the building. The father accused the two men of sexually assaulting and killing his child.
Police acted quickly due to the severity of the case. The Senior Superintendent of Police formed three special teams to find the accused.
Police got a tip that the suspects were hiding. They were at an under-construction colony on Idris’s premises. A team from Sikandrabad police surrounded the area.
The accused allegedly opened fire at the police officers. The police fired back in self-defense. Raju and Veeru Kashyap were injured in their legs during this encounter.
Both men were arrested while injured. They were taken to a hospital for treatment. During initial questioning, police said the two men confessed to their involvement in the crime.
A case has been registered. It uses sections of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act. A further investigation is now underway.
