Shivamogga, Karnataka | January 8: Police said a head constable allegedly died by suicide on Thursday. Officers found him inside a toilet at the West Traffic Police Station in Shivamogga.
Incident
Police said they discovered Mohammed Zakaria (55) hanging in the station toilet. Zakaria had returned to duty just two days earlier after about a month’s leave. Authorities first responded after colleagues noticed his absence and checked the station.
Victim
Zakaria served as a head constable at the West Traffic Police Station in Shivamogga, the district headquarters town. He had taken leave for almost a month and resumed work recently.
Death Note and Harassment Claim
Police recovered a note at the scene. In the note, Zakaria named a colleague and accused that person of harassment. Officers said they will verify the note as part of the inquiry.
