A woman in Brazil is accused of a terrible crime. Police say she used her car to kill her ex-boyfriend and his friend. The incident happened early in the morning in Sao Paulo.
The suspect is Geovanna Proque da Silva. She is 21 years old. Her ex-boyfriend was Raphael Canuto da Costa, also 21. His friend, Joyce Correa da Silva, was 19. Both young men died at the scene.
A Fatal Crash Captured on Camera
The event happened on a street in the Parque Regina area. It occurred around 3 a.m. on December 28. Security cameras recorded the crash.
In the video, the two men are riding a scooter. A car hits them from behind. The impact throws both men from the scooter. They were pronounced dead soon after.
Police say Geovanna Silva was driving the car. They believe she acted out of jealousy. She had dated Raphael Costa for only one month.
Threatening Messages Before the Crash
Police found angry messages on Silva’s phone. She sent them to Costa the day before the crash. She was at a party at the time.
In one message, she told him to “kiss the devil.” In another, she promised to “cut your throat.” Witnesses also heard her threaten Costa in person that night.
She was at a barbecue on December 27. Witnesses say she spoke to Costa there. She held a steak knife and made a threat. “If I go there, this steak knife will cut your throat,” she allegedly said.
More Threats and a Chasing Incident
Silva sent more texts after the barbecue. She complained about being alone. She asked Costa if he hated her. She sent another text saying, “Go kiss the devil. I’m pissed.”
Later, around 2 a.m. on December 28, she sent more threats. These were to people at a party. She threatened Costa’s female friends. She said she would remove them from the party “one way or another.”
Silva’s stepmother spoke about her mental health. Dr. Gabrielle Schneid de Pinho said Silva has “psychiatric disorders.” She said Silva takes medication for depression and bipolar disorder.
The stepmother also described relationship problems. She said there were issues of betrayal and jealousy. She described one incident where she went with Silva to Costa’s home.
Silva thought there were other women at his house. They arrived, then left in a car. Costa reportedly followed them on his scooter.
A High-Speed Chase Ends in Tragedy
Costa stopped at a liquor store. He picked up his friend, Joyce Silva. Geovanna Silva then decided to follow them.
Her stepmother was in the car with her. Dr. Pinho said Silva began “chasing Raphael at high speed.” She said she repeatedly asked Silva to stop the car.
“Geovanna didn’t say anything and just drove behind Raphael,” Dr. Pinho said. The chase ended with the fatal crash.
Alleged Statement After the Crash
Witnesses say Silva made a shocking comment after the crash. She allegedly told people at the scene to help their friends. She referred to them as “your friend and the slut I just killed.”
Geovanna Silva is now in police custody. She is a veterinary medicine student. She is being held for the murders of the two young men. The case is under investigation.
