A major Los Angeles murder case has a new lawyer. On Tuesday, October 1st, a well-known defense attorney named Alan Jackson confirmed he is now representing Nick Reiner. Nick Reiner is the man accused of killing his famous parents.
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer were found dead in their Brentwood home last Sunday. Their son, Nick Reiner, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is 32 years old.
The district attorney says Nick Reiner used a knife. Because of the special circumstance of multiple murders, he could face life in prison without parole. He is currently being held without bail.
Alan Jackson is a familiar face in high-profile legal battles. He spoke to reporters outside a Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday. He was also seen at the family’s Brentwood home.
Jackson is a former prosecutor who once ran for Los Angeles District Attorney. He lost that election. Now, he is famous for defending celebrities and people in big criminal cases.
Just this past summer, Jackson defended Karen Read. She was accused of killing her police officer boyfriend in Massachusetts. After a long trial, Jackson helped secure an acquittal. This means she was found not guilty.
Jackson’s list of famous clients is long. He represented actor Kevin Spacey in a 2019 groping case. That lawsuit was later dropped. Jackson was also part of the legal team for former film producer Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein was convicted in a Los Angeles trial and sent to prison.
Right now, Jackson is also defending Fraser Michael Bohm. Bohm is the young man accused of causing a crash in Malibu in 2023. That crash killed four Pepperdine University students. Jackson is arguing against the murder charges in that ongoing case.
Before becoming a defense attorney, Jackson was a top prosecutor. He worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for many years. In that role, he helped get a murder conviction against famous music producer Phil Spector.
His experience on both sides of the courtroom makes him a powerful lawyer. All eyes will now be on him as he takes on the tragic and complex Reiner family case.
