A two-year-old boy has died after a crash on a major road. The tragic accident happened just days before Christmas.
It occurred on the A1 motorway in Cambridgeshire. The crash was on Saturday evening, around 6:20 pm.
What Happened in the Crash
The young child was from London. He was a passenger in a Toyota Auris car. That car had broken down. It was stuck in a live lane of the northbound carriageway.
The Toyota was then hit by a Volkswagen Touran. The crash happened near the Stibbington Junction.
The Aftermath and Injuries
The toddler was tragically killed in the collision. Five other people in the Toyota were seriously hurt. They were all taken to Peterborough City Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Volkswagen is a 64-year-old man from Peterborough. He only had minor injuries.
Police arrested him. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until March 20, 2025, while the investigation continues.
