Dolly Parton Celebrates Hope and Her 80th Birthday

Parton said in a statement, “I wrote ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning’ during a season when I was searching for hope, and 50 years later that message still feels just as true. As I celebrate my 80th birthday, this new version is my way of using what I’ve been blessed with to shine a little light forward, especially by sharing it with some truly incredible women.”

Earlier, she teased the release on Instagram, adding that “proceeds from this recording and music video will benefit pediatric cancer research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.”

Excitement From Collaborators

Lainey Wilson, 33, shared her excitement in the comments of Parton’s post, saying, “So excited for y’all to hear this.”

This marks the second collaboration between Parton, McEntire, and Wilson, following their 2025 track “Trailblazer” with Miranda Lambert.

Original Song Success

The original “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” appeared on Parton’s 1977 album New Harvest…First Gathering. The song reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time.

The new rendition continues to spread the song’s message of hope while also supporting pediatric cancer research.

Parton’s collaborators are no strangers to the Grammy stage. The previous collaboration “Trailblazer” is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, increasing anticipation for this new release.
