Reddit Users Confused by “Invisible” Outage on Monday

Reddit users experienced a confusing problem on Monday. Parts of the platform stopped working for many people. However, Reddit’s official status page showed no issues. Everything was marked as green and operational.

For several hours, the site seemed to exist in two realities. Some users could browse normally. Others found their apps frozen or saw blank pages. Over 250 people reported problems on Downdetector, a website that tracks outages.

The reports came from different countries and device types. Nearly half of the users said the main website would not load. Others said the Reddit app froze. Some could not open posts. A smaller group could not connect to Reddit’s servers at all.

The strange part was the lack of official acknowledgment. Reddit’s status dashboard showed no errors. This mismatch created what users called an “invisible outage.” The problem did not appear on major monitoring tools but still affected many people.

This type of issue is not completely new for Reddit. A larger outage happened in November. It affected thousands of users in the US and India. Monday’s event was smaller. However, it still disrupted the daily habits of many users.

People use Reddit for news, discussion, and entertainment. When it went down, they turned to other social media platforms. They asked if others were having the same problem. The conversation was filled with memes, screenshots, and shared confusion.

Reddit has not provided an explanation for the incident. Service returned to normal later in the day.
