Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing since January 31, 2026, triggering an extensive search operation involving local authorities and the FBI. A missing person report was officially filed on February 1, and more than 100 officials are currently working on the case. Nancy, who reportedly has a fragile heart condition and requires regular medication, has not been traced so far.

As the investigation continues, attention has turned to ransom demands allegedly made by Nancy’s abductor. According to reports, two ransom notes surfaced during the search. The first was sent to TMZ and was later linked to a Southern California man who was arrested for sending a fake ransom message. Soon after, a second message was reportedly received by News13, which authorities believe came from a different sender.

The latest ransom demand allegedly asked for USD 6 million in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return. The deadline for payment was reportedly set for February 9, 2026, at 5 PM (ET). Nancy’s children—Savannah, Annie, and Camron Guthrie—released a video stating that they were willing to pay the amount, but only after receiving proof that their mother was alive and in the custody of the sender. The family expressed concern over the ease with which photos and videos can be manipulated.

Investigators believe the person behind the message may be technically skilled, as the communication was reportedly sent using encrypted emails, a VPN, and cryptocurrency—methods that make tracing difficult. Authorities have also noted that only two communications have been received since the alleged kidnapping, further complicating the investigation. Former FBI agent Tracy Walder stated that the limited contact and technical precautions suggest careful planning.

Meanwhile, Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, has come under public scrutiny. Journalist Ashleigh Banfield claimed that unnamed sources suggested he “may be” a person of interest because he was reportedly the last person to see Nancy and also allegedly received one of the ransom messages. However, Banfield clarified that this does not confirm guilt, as family members are often questioned in the early stages of such investigations.

Police have stated that there are currently no officially named suspects, and searches and questioning are ongoing as part of standard procedure. Authorities continue to follow multiple leads, while the Guthrie family and the public wait for updates on Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.
