Sarah Dzafce is no longer Miss Finland. The Miss Universe Finland organization took away her crown. This happened because of a racist social media post she made.
The group made the announcement on Thursday. They said her title was revoked immediately. The decision came after a photo Dzafce posted went viral. In the photo, she pulled her eyes back in a slanted shape. This gesture is widely seen as mocking Asian people. The caption on the photo read, “When you have to dine out with a Chinese person.”
Organization Says Behavior is Unacceptable
The Miss Finland organization released strong statements. They said they do not accept any racism or discrimination. They said Dzafce’s post was offensive and harmful. It also went against the competition’s core values.
“The title of Miss Finland held by Sarah Dzafce has been revoked as of today,” the organization stated. They explained the decision is about responsibility. When someone represents a country, their actions matter greatly.
Dzafce Apologized Before Losing Crown
Before losing her title, Dzafce posted an apology on Instagram. She said she was deeply sorry for her actions. She apologized to people who were hurt by the post. She claimed she never intended to cause harm.
“I fully understand that my actions have caused ill will in many people and I am deeply sorry for that,” she wrote. Her apology did not stop the organization from taking action.
A New Miss Finland is Crowned
With Dzafce dethroned, the first runner-up was given the crown. Tara Lehtonen is now the new Miss Finland 2025. Lehtonen promised to carry the title with pride and deep respect for everyone.
The organization had planned a formal meeting with Dzafce. She was out of the country when the photo caused controversy. They decided to revoke her title before that meeting happened.
