January 2026 — Montenegro is facing a major political and social controversy after private videos linked to Mirjana Pajković, a former senior human rights official, were leaked online. The incident has led to resignations at the highest level and sparked intense public debate, while searches like “Mirjana Pajković snimak” and “Mirjana Pajković video” continue to trend across the region.

    What Triggered the Scandal?

The controversy surfaced in late January 2026, when explicit private footage involving Mirjana Pajković began circulating on encrypted messaging apps and social media platforms. Soon after, Pajković and Dejan Vukšić, a senior presidential adviser and former intelligence chief, resigned from their government roles, citing personal reasons.

What followed was a public exchange of serious allegations that pushed the issue far beyond private misconduct and into national headlines.

Allegations of Blackmail and Non-Consensual Sharing

Mirjana Pajković has publicly stated that she is a victim of blackmail and non-consensual sharing of private material. She claims she was threatened before the videos were leaked and described the incident as a targeted attempt to destroy her reputation.

According to Pajković, some threats were allegedly made using official government phone lines. She has also pointed to an audio recording that she claims includes threats linked to the release of the footage.

    Dejan Vukšić Responds

Dejan Vukšić has strongly denied distributing the videos. He has said the audio recording being shared is old and taken out of context. Vukšić also accused Pajković of misusing his mobile phone in 2024, claiming his own privacy was violated.

Both sides continue to stand by their versions of events.

Why “Mirjana Pajković Snimak” Is Trending

Search interest around “Mirjana Pajković snimak” has surged, especially across Montenegro and neighboring Balkan countries. Media analysts say the spike reflects growing concerns about digital privacy, online shaming, and the treatment of women in public life.

Several women lawmakers in Montenegro released a joint statement condemning the spread of private content and warning against using personal material to discredit professional careers.

    Investigation Launched by Prosecutors

The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has opened a formal investigation into how the videos were obtained and shared. Authorities are examining possible violations of privacy laws and allegations of blackmail.

The case has also renewed calls for stronger laws against non-consensual intimate imagery, an issue that rights groups say remains inadequately addressed in Montenegro.

    Who Is Mirjana Pajković?

Mirjana Pajković is a Montenegrin lawyer who most recently served as Director General for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.

She has represented Montenegro at international forums, including the Council of Europe, and worked extensively on gender equality and minority protection. Before her government role, she practiced law in criminal and civil cases and had earlier political involvement with the Civic Movement URA.

Her resignation in January 2026 has put her career on pause amid the ongoing controversy.

    A Case Bigger Than Politics

Beyond politics, the Mirjana Pajković case has opened a wider discussion on privacy, cyber harassment, and accountability in the digital age. As investigations continue, many are watching closely to see whether the case leads to legal reforms and stronger protections for victims of online abuse.
