Father Sushil Praveen Tiru and Father Sunil Bhengra Killed in Jharkhand Car-Truck Collision, Father Johnson Bhengra Injured

Tragedy struck Jharkhand’s Khunti district on Wednesday night when a car carrying three Roman Catholic priests collided with a truck. The accident occurred on the Ranchi-Simdega Main Road, leaving two priests dead and another critically injured, police said.

Victims and Injuries

The deceased have been identified as Father Sushil Praveen Tiru and Father Sunil Bhengra, both residents of Dodma. The injured priest, Father Johnson Bhengra, was rushed to Sadar Hospital in Khunti and later referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi due to the severity of his injuries.

Doctors at Sadar Hospital confirmed the deaths of Father Tiru and Father Bhengra on arrival.

Details of the Incident

The priests were travelling from Torpa towards Dodma when the collision occurred late Wednesday evening. Police said the car collided with a truck, causing the fatal mishap.

Torpa police station officer-in-charge Mukesh Kumar confirmed the details and said an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Reactions and Tributes

JMM MLA from Torpa, Sudip Guria, expressed his grief over the deaths. He said that Father Sushil Praveen Tiru’s life symbolized service, sacrifice, and dedication to humanity.

Both Father Tiru and Father Bhengra were associated with the Dodma Roman Catholic Church, serving the community with devotion.

The local community and church members mourn the loss and continue to pray for the recovery of Father Johnson Bhengra.
