Actor Peter Greene has died at age 60. He was best known for playing villains. His famous roles were Zed in “Pulp Fiction” and Dorian Tyrell in “The Mask.”
Greene was found unresponsive in his apartment in Manhattan. This happened on Friday. Neighbors had reported loud Christmas music playing for days. This prompted a wellness check.
A neighbor spoke to the New York Daily News. They said Greene was found face down on the floor. He had facial injuries and there was blood present.
Police do not suspect foul play. The New York City medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
A History of Personal Struggles
Greene had a known history of drug addiction in the 1990s. He struggled with heroin and cocaine. In 1996, he attempted suicide. He was also arrested in 2007 for crack cocaine possession. However, no reports directly link these past issues to his death.
Manager and Fans Pay Tribute
Greene’s longtime manager, Gregg Edwards, called his death a shock. He described Greene as a talented character actor. He said Greene had gentle off-screen personality and upcoming projects.
Thousands of fans posted tributes on social media. One fan on X noted, “2nd death from the mask movie that was sad. The other guy that was Jim’s co-worker friend in the movie committed suicide.”
Another person shared a personal memory: “Met him when I first moved to LA in 2000. He was a very nice, very bright dude. We hung out for a year and then I never really saw him again. Thought about him a lot. RIP.”
