A viral rumor said actress Sydney Sweeney was dating soccer star Christian Pulisic. This is not true. Pulisic himself has publicly denied the story.
The US Men’s National Team captain spoke out on Saturday, December 28. He commented on an Instagram post from a sports page. The post mentioned the dating rumor. Pulisic wrote clearly, “Fake news guys let’s stop with the silly rumor.”
He also posted a message on his Instagram Stories. He asked people to stop making up stories about his personal life. He wrote that false rumors can affect people’s lives.
How Did the Rumor Start?
The rumor began on Christmas Day, December 25. An Italian gossip column called Gazzetta first reported it. They said the rumor started from another Instagram account. The account is called Bomber’s DNA.
The story spread quickly online. It gained a lot of attention. This forced Pulisic to finally step in and deny it.
Both Are Already in Relationships
The rumor made little sense. Both Pulisic and Sweeney are already in public relationships with other people.
Christian Pulisic has been dating professional golfer Alexa Melton since June 2024. They met when Pulisic sent her a direct message on Instagram. They have been seen together at many events. Melton was his date at a major AC Milan team party in December 2024.
Sydney Sweeney is also in a relationship. She has been dating music executive Scooter Braun since early September 2025. They have been spotted together many times. They were seen holding hands in Los Angeles and kissing in New York’s Central Park.
A source told People magazine in December that Sweeney and Braun are “going strong.” The source said they are in a “committed” and “serious” relationship. Friends and family of both are reportedly very happy for them.
Sweeney was previously engaged to Jonathan Davino. They called off their engagement and split in early 2025. Braun was previously married to Yael Cohen. They divorced in 2022 and share three children.
