Edinburgh, January 2026 — Armed police officers rushed to a residential street in west Edinburgh on Monday morning after reports of a seriously injured man. Emergency services arrived at Drum Brae Drive, near Clermiston Drive, at around 10:30am, sealing off the area as officers responded to the incident.

Heavy Police Presence on Drum Brae Drive

Witnesses reported seeing armed response officers cordon off the street, stopping pedestrians and vehicles from passing through. Several police vehicles lined the road, while officers remained stationed outside a nearby property.

Residents described a tense scene as police maintained a visible presence for several hours.

    Eyewitness Describes Injured Man

An eyewitness told local media they saw a man with a deep facial injury.

“I saw a man with a massive slash across his face. He was drenched in blood. He looked to be in his early 40s with grey hair. It looked very serious,” the witness said.

The witness added that police immediately restricted movement along the street.

Armed Officers Seen With Riot Shields

Another local resident said armed officers were positioned outside a cordoned property.

“They taped the road just from Clermiston Drive. You can see armed response officers outside a property with what look like riot shields,” the resident said.

They also estimated that around 10 police vehicles and a dozen officers were present at the scene.

    Police Investigation Ongoing

Police Scotland has not yet confirmed the full details of the incident or whether any arrests have been made. The condition of the injured man has also not been officially released.

The investigation remains ongoing, and residents have been advised to avoid the area while inquiries continue.
