A 28-year-old woman died after falling from a crowded suburban train in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday, January 31, 2026, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The incident happened around 8:10 am at Badlapur railway station during the morning rush hour.
How the Incident Happened
Police said the woman, identified as Chetana Devrukhkar, was trying to board a moving train going towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
During the attempt, she slipped and fell onto the platform. She suffered serious injuries and later died.
Senior inspector Pandhari Kande from the Kalyan GRP confirmed the details of the incident.
Victim Was Travelling to Work
Police said Devrukhkar worked at a company in Thane and was travelling for work at the time of the accident.
Police Action
The Government Railway Police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway.
Authorities continue to warn passengers against boarding or getting off moving trains, especially during peak rush hours, to avoid such accidents.
