New documents linked to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation were released on Friday, January 30, 2026, by the US Department of Justice. The release includes more than three million pages of records, such as emails, photos, call logs and investigation material.
Officials said the files show details about Epstein’s contacts and social circle. They also warned that many documents include unverified claims. Being named in the files does not mean someone committed a crime.
Claims Mentioning Bill Gates
Some of the most controversial material includes draft emails reportedly written by Epstein in 2013. In these drafts, Epstein made claims about Bill Gates’ personal life. The emails alleged Gates asked for help related to an STD after sexual encounters.
There is no confirmed evidence supporting these claims. Representatives for Bill Gates strongly denied the allegations. They called them false and said Epstein may have made the claims after their relationship ended.
Emails Showing Contact With Elon Musk
The documents also include emails showing communication between Epstein and Elon Musk around 2012 and 2013. Some emails discussed possible plans to visit Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
There is no proof that Musk ever visited the island. Musk has previously criticised Epstein and denied having a close connection with him.
Why Authorities Are Urging Caution
Officials stressed that many documents include tips from the public, draft messages and unverified statements. Some information may be false or exaggerated.
The release is part of efforts to increase transparency around the Epstein investigation. It is expected to be one of the final major document releases connected to the case.
