Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan | January 31, 2026 — What was first reported as a tragic hit-and-run accident has now been revealed as a cold-blooded, premeditated murder, allegedly planned by the victim’s wife, Anju alias Anjali, with her lover Sanjay alias Sanju.
Ashish, a newly married man from Rajasthan, was killed just three months after his wedding. Police say the murder was carefully staged to look like a road accident and robbery.
Incident Initially Reported as Road Accident
On the night of the incident, Ashish and his wife Anju were reportedly out for a walk when a vehicle allegedly hit them. Ashish died on the spot, while Anju was found unconscious and claimed her gold jewellery had been stolen.
Based on a complaint filed by Bazirchand, the victim’s uncle, police initially registered the case as a hit-and-run accident.
Post-Mortem Raised Serious Doubts
The case took a dramatic turn after the post-mortem report and crime scene analysis revealed injuries that did not match a typical road accident.
Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan said the nature of the wounds suggested assault and strangulation, prompting a deeper investigation with the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and technical surveillance.
Police Uncover Murder Conspiracy
Investigators found that Ashish had married Anju just three months earlier and that she was allegedly unhappy with the marriage. Police say Anju was in a relationship with Sanjay alias Sanju, and together they planned Ashish’s murder.
According to police, on the night of the crime, Anju took Ashish to a deserted road on the pretext of going for a drive. She then allegedly signalled the attackers, who were already waiting.
How the Murder Was Carried Out
Police allege that Ashish was:
-
Attacked with sticks until he lost consciousness
-
Strangled using a muffler
-
Killed on the spot
To make the crime appear like a robbery and accident, Anju allegedly handed over Ashish’s mobile phone and her earrings to the attackers before fleeing the scene.
Four Accused Arrested
Police have arrested four people in connection with the case:
-
Anju alias Anjali (wife of the deceased)
-
Sanjay alias Sanju (alleged lover)
-
Rohit alias Rocky
-
Badal alias Siddharth
All accused are currently in custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
Police Call It a Planned Murder
Officials confirmed that the case was never an accident, but a carefully planned killing meant to mislead investigators.
“This was a deliberate attempt to destroy evidence and mislead police,” an officer said.
