Indonesian police are carrying out DNA tests after dismembered human remains were found on a beach in Bali. Authorities are working to confirm whether the body parts belong to 28-year-old Ukrainian national Igor Komarov, who was reported kidnapped earlier this month.

The case has drawn international attention due to alleged ransom demands and reported links to organised crime.

What Happened?

Police say Komarov was allegedly abducted while riding a motorcycle in the Jimbaran area of Bali.

The investigation began after his friend, Yermak Petrovsky, escaped what he described as an ambush on a steep road in northern Bali.

Soon after, a graphic and unverified video began circulating online. The footage appears to show a badly injured man, believed to be Komarov, pleading with his parents to pay a ransom of 10 million US dollars.

Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the video.

Body Parts Found on Bali Beach

Human remains were later discovered in an advanced state of decomposition.

Forensic experts estimate the person had been dead for more than three days.

According to Bali Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, investigators are waiting for DNA results before confirming the identity.

Samples have been taken from Komarov’s mother for comparison. Police say they will not speculate until the tests are complete.

Alleged Financial Dispute

In the unverified footage linked to the case, the man believed to be Komarov claims he owed money and refers to 10 million US dollars being “stolen.”

Additional clips circulating online reportedly show him admitting involvement in a bank account scam operation. These claims remain under investigation.

Authorities are examining whether the kidnapping may have been linked to financial disputes.

Reports also suggest the suspects may have tracked Komarov’s movements through social media posts shared by his girlfriend, Yeva Mishalova, who was travelling with him in Bali.

Arrests Made in the Case

Bali Police have named six foreign nationals as suspects.

The first arrest involved a man identified by the initials CH, who was allegedly attempting to leave the island using a fraudulent passport.

Following his detention, five other suspects — identified as RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH — were taken into custody.

Police have not officially released their nationalities.

Investigation Ongoing

Officials are continuing to examine the logistics of the alleged plot and the possible primary crime scene.

Until DNA results are confirmed, authorities say they cannot state whether the remains belong to Igor Komarov.

The case remains under active investigation.
