Bali, March 6, 2026: Indonesian authorities have confirmed that human remains found on a Bali beach belong to Igor Komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist who was reportedly kidnapped earlier in February.

Police said DNA testing matched the recovered body parts with samples taken from Komarov’s parents, confirming his identity after days of investigation.

The case has shocked locals and tourists alike and is now being treated as a major international kidnapping and murder investigation.

Human Remains Found Near Wos River

Last week, authorities discovered several human body parts at the mouth of the Wos River on Bali’s east coast.

Investigators said the remains included a head, parts of the chest, legs, thighs, and internal organs. Initial examinations suggested the victim had died around three days before the discovery.

At first, police reported that the remains had about 80 percent similarity to the missing tourist.

After detailed forensic testing in Jakarta, investigators confirmed the remains were identical to Igor Komarov.

Senior Commissioner Ariasandy from Bali Police said multiple samples were used during the DNA examination.

These included a molar tooth, collarbone, fragments of thigh bone, rib bone, toe bone, and shin bone.

“The DNA results match the sample from the victim’s mother,” Ariasandy said.

Igor Komarov Kidnapped While Riding Scooter

Komarov was reportedly abducted on February 15, 2026, while riding a scooter in the Jimbaran area of Badung, Bali.

Authorities believe a group of men forced him into a vehicle and took him to an unknown location.

Shortly after the disappearance, a disturbing video began circulating online. In the clip, a bruised Komarov appeared to beg his parents for help and asked them to pay a ransom.

The video has not been officially verified by investigators, but it quickly spread across social media.

    Ransom Video Sparked Global Attention

In the alleged ransom video, Komarov appeared injured and claimed his kidnappers had demanded 10 million US dollars from his family.

He pleaded with his parents to pay the money to secure his release.

The video showed him with visible injuries, including bruises around his eyes. Authorities have not confirmed the exact circumstances surrounding the recording.

    Investigation Leads to Suspected Villa

Police later traced GPS data from a rented minibus connected to the case.

The data led investigators to a villa in Tabanan, where authorities believe the ransom video may have been recorded.

During searches, detectives reportedly found blood traces that matched Komarov’s DNA. Officers also recovered personal belongings believed to belong to the victim.

Arrest Made as Police Hunt for Other Suspects

Police have arrested a Nigerian man identified as “CH” in West Nusa Tenggara.

Investigators say he rented the vehicle linked to the case and allegedly used a fake Belgian passport.

However, officials said he is not believed to be directly involved in the kidnapping itself.

Authorities are still searching for six other suspects, identified by initials RM, BK, AS, VN, SM, and DH. Police believe several of them may have already fled Bali.

Social Media Posts May Have Revealed Location

Before his disappearance, Komarov shared photos with his girlfriend, influencer Yesa Mishalova, on social media.

One post shared around Valentine’s Day showed the couple together and quickly gained attention online.

Investigators have suggested that these posts may have unintentionally revealed the couple’s location, making them easier targets for criminals.

    Investigation Continues

The investigation remains ongoing as Indonesian authorities work to identify the full group responsible.

Police are cooperating with international agencies and continue to gather evidence related to the kidnapping and murder.

Officials say more updates will be shared as the case develops.
